The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Mulberry Waste Limited.
EPR/ZP3439RM/V004
The current permit authorises crushing/shredding of waste fluorescent tubes, metal containers, oil filters, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), End of Life Vehicles and their components. It also authorises the storage, manual and mechanical sorting/separation and repackaging of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
The substantial variation requests the addition of a new activity S5.3 A(1) a) ii) to recover mercury using a mercury retort. In addition the proposal will include the installation of new equipment and plant which will improve waste recycling and treatment. This includes a new fluorescent tube and flat screen crusher which can crush and separate waste components for recovery, new waste material sorters (eMax and float: sink tank) , a new shredder and a new diesel generator.
