Hillsborough County is home to over 175 parks, a dozen recreation centers, 700 miles of trails, 61,000 acres of preserved land, and original art exhibited throughout the county. There are skate parks and dog parks, and even a drone park. The County's Parks & Recreation department also offers hundreds of events and programs such as summer camp, adult and senior classes, and youth and adult sports leagues.

Among the best in the nationAs you can see, the County has a lot to offer in terms of top-notch parks and recreational activities. In fact, its Parks & Recreation department is one of only four national finalists in the Class 1 category for the 2023 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. Class 1 includes the nation's largest parks and recreation departments, serving populations of more than 400,000.
