Document Shredding Event In Burke To Raise Money For Marian Homes

BURKE, VA — Marian Homes Inc. and the office of Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity are sponsoring a contactless document shredding event at the Rolling Valley Park and Ride parking lot in Burke on Saturday, June 3.

The public is invited to make monetary donations at the event to support the nonprofit Marian Homes and its mission to purchase and maintain affordable homes for people with intellectual disabilities.

From 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, the public can drop off items to be shredded. A drive-thru will be available for people who want to hand off their items from their car to be shredded.

The Rolling Valley Park and Ride is located at 9220 Old Keene Mill Road in Burke.

The public can drop off old documents, cancelled checks, paper, manila folders, windowed envelopes, and tax documents and receipts. Among the items that will not be accepted for shredding are newspapers, magazines, cardboard and 3-ring binders.

Marian Homes is currently in the middle of a capital campaign to raise $250,000 to purchase and refurbish its ninth home that it hopes to purchase in early 2024 to serve as a group home for people with intellectual disabilities.

The public can email [email protected] for information about the document shredding event and how to make donations as part of the nonprofit's capital campaign.
