Tom McGinnis, president and owner of Bay State Shredding Inc., Brockton, Massachusetts, has received the 2024 Lifetime Commitment Award from MassRecycle “for outstanding recycling, reuse and waste reduction work in Massachusetts.”
MassRecycle President Gretchen Carey presented the award during the organization’s Fall Social and Awards Celebration at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Reflecting on the award, McGinnis says, “We are committed to furthering our efforts in the secure document shredding industry. I am very grateful for the recognition from MassRecycle and excited to continue leading by example in the recycling industry.”
McGinnis is described as a pioneer in the recycling, zero waste and sustainability movement, servicing hundreds of clients throughout eastern Massachusetts and New England, focusing on those within the I-495 highway belt. He was an early board member of i-Sigma (formerly the National Association for Information Destruction, or NAID), an industry trade association that enforces standards and ethical compliance for secure data destruction and records and information management service providers.
Bay State’s services include on-site and off-site document shredding, compliant destruction solutions, and free waste, recycling and shredding audits. Bay State’s shredder can process up to 10 tons of paper per hour.
“When you outsource your destruction needs to Bay State Shredding, you protect your brand, reduce the risk of identity theft and you are protected from legal liabilities associated with noncompliance,” McGinnis says.
